Thanks for the reply guys. No luck at Stony Pt last night because of the seals. So we went to Mornington. We got 3 and I used a yabby drop net for the first time. Worked a treat! I just left the net hanging about 20cm under water and scooped up a decent squid.

Same problem at Flinders Pier last night. After an uneventful night, as I was walking back to the car. I cast a 3.0 towards someone’s underwater green light. On the first cast the weight of this squid was simply scary. I had my telescopic net with me but it needed to be undone. So I let some line slack which was a big mistake, and the squid bolted under the pier snapped my line and 10 seconds later, crunch a big seal ate it. :(

I think this topic problem has come up a few times now.
Anyone know the other thread we discussed the same problem on for more ideas
