Lorne pier

Post by Kenle » Fri Nov 30, 2018 12:04 pm

Went out this morning to Lorne pier, saw a few locals getting some squid so I flicked out a pink foil jig hoping for a few. Managed 1 good squid. Ended up slicing the squid up for bait, good choice as it seems with trevaly pinkies and a King George Whiting landed in quick succession. Pinkies ranged from 40cm - 44cm, trev 36cm- 39cm and Whiting was a decent 38cm. Overall great fun on light tackle, using 1-3kg rod with size 1000reel loaded with 4lb braid linked to 6lb fluro. Saw a big school of salmon busting on the surface before a seal came around so I left. Beautiful day to soak a line, if weather stays the way it is I'll give it another crack and post another report. :water:

Nice and well done mate.
How did you manage to lift the fish up onto the pier on such light gear, that would have been a feat in itself, unless of course you had a long landing net.
cheers

Yeah I locked the spool and dead lifted it straining the rod, not recomended but I went there with very little expectations. Was quite intense as some of the fish was short lifted and fell back. If the fish was any bigger it would've been impossible without landing gear lol :o_0:
