Trout Opening

Post by Boonanza » Mon Sep 03, 2018 5:44 pm

Went for a fish on Sunday 2nd in search of a few Trout at a nice trout stream I have fished for years. We tried worms lures & soft plastics and the water was running a little bit high but very clear. It was a very slow day with hardly any bites but I did manage to land 2 beautifully conditioned Macquarie perch both around the 1kg mark as a bi-catch which after a couple of quick pics were realeased safely back. (Please note Macquarie perch are an endangered native species and should always be released) I have spoken to Robbie Alexander today and apparently from reports he has heard the trout fishing everywhere in the rivers was very slow not quite sure why.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

A couple of very healthy Maccas there - a very nice by-catch indeed. It is easy to see why they were called "white eyes".
