Spin rod used for fly

Post by otway » Sun Jul 15, 2018 2:37 pm

Hi, does anyone use thier spin rods for fly fishing? Today i put a fly reel along with the fly line 5 wt onto my tcurve 6 foot 6, this rod is great for hard body lures such as rapala floating 3 cm etc as its got a moderate taper action, so its a bit wippy, so i gave it a try and...it shoots the line out just fine actually i have more confidence using this set up than what the reel was originally on a norstream 8 foot 6 5 wt, just got to catch a fish on it now. Thanks

Go for it, you never know, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Damn.
Now that's something I could actually do.
I ducked real hard at trying to cast a fly rod a good few months ago.
This might give me some hope

I learnt to fly fish with a similar outfit a few years back. Just need to be careful with the back cast and how the rods loads up.

Shorter, faster rod, timing will be a tad harder than a long fly rod. Otherwise the principle remains the same. You will still... duck
