penn prevail 12ft overhead
question so the penn prevail 12ft 15-24 kg is a overhead model so no very little about overhead rods the penn has the guides mounted the same as a spin rod setup maybe the guides are a smaller diameter ? if so wouldnt the bit smaller guides be better for braid the spin reel would mount the same as a overhead when mounted a spininng reel on the rod compared to a overhead reel make much difference to the guides

Re: penn prevail 12ft overhead
The first guide will likely be small rather than the larger stripper guide you get on a spinning rod. I don't know that rod, but I have heard some don't like being bent the other way as would happen when using an overhead rod with a spinning reel or vice versa

Re: penn prevail 12ft overhead
Pretty much what 4litres said, a rod has a backbone and the guides are aligned in relation to this, from memory an overhead rod has them along the backbone a spin rod has them under the backbone(or vice versa). Jeremy may be able to answer this when if he sees it.4liters wrote:The first guide will likely be small rather than the larger stripper guide you get on a spinning rod.
