I use breathable chest waders with thermals underneath. Tried going with shorts and was way too cold for me.

On top I have thermals under a waterproof jacket. Using this I’ve had waves up to my waist without water ingress. Been out there on 2C mornings with no cold issues.
It’s the wind that chills you to the bone. Gets better when the sun is up. A long walk warms you up too of course, but without layers to keep the heat in it’ll quickly become a nasty experience.
That said I imagine a wetsuit will be too hot

Not sure really difficult to see where they land in the waves, I imagine it’s 80+m or so, recently upgraded to a Samurai Ledge rod what a weapon, casting’s a pleasure now
