The Warmies - Report

Post by donutcrooks » Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:34 pm

G'day lads,

It is your favourite worst fisherman! I am back after weeks and weeks of working I found a break to go for a flick of my fantastic new stick. I headed out to the warmies with 2 mates and we fished for hours. Of course, you know with me that I never catch anything but this time I got 3 consistent tugs!
We tried all different rig ups with different bait. We used mainly prawns and pilchards. The prawns got the 3 good tugs but no fishes.

The last time we went the same thing happened with no fish and that an Asian guy rocked up and caught a fish in 10 minutes. This time was different because we had the whole place practically to ourselves and we were feeling good. It was not long until an Asian guy rocked up and set up about 1 metre from us even though there was plenty of space. IT TOOK HIM ONLY 5 MINUTES TO GET A FISH! I am all for everyone catching fish but it really got to me that as soon as he caught the fish he didn't check out the fish, he just unhooked and shoved it in the bucket. I am no experienced fisherman and I couldn't exactly work out what fish it was to see the appropriate legal size limit for it. I thought maybe this guy is a pro but after only 30 or so minutes the guy left but it got to me again because he packed everything in his bucket on top of the fish as if he was trying to hide it. I've never been in a situation like that and don't know how to react/or what to do.

If you don't like reading and want to know what I caught it was only sunburn.

Thanks lads.

Lol i know the feeling mate, but thats fishing. It could help us identify if you could give us a colour for this mystery fish, silver, gold, black or pink? ?. Ive never kept undersize fish but sometimes when im packing up n calling it a day, i like to put my catch on the bottom of my esky and all my partialy frozen bait on top of it to keep it cooler.

It was a little silver fish, looked around 15cm long.

Not much to go by there pal.

I am more incensed by people killing toadies/banjos/stingray to save a Kmart hook; how do you react to someone stabbing any of the three in the head for the "nuisance"...

Have you tried circle hooks? (the fish pretty much hook themselves) Always make sure the sharp end of the hook is well exposed.

Wasn't there a thread on here about "bagging out " at the warmies recently? ???
It would appear we have about the same strike rate
I wish I could fish yesterday or last week, because that's when they are biting
