First ever Snapper!!

Post by STriplett1997 » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:21 pm

What a day today was... Picture attached!

Fifth trip in my new boat and in western port. Now truly hooked :-D. I had a plan before heading out and it really came together. I left Yaringa Marina at about 9:30Am and made my way to the entrance of the Boulton Channel for the tide change in hope of intercepting a Snapper or Gummy shark that was being pushed out of the channel with the outgoing tide. I Sounded up a nice drop off and anchored. I had only been anchored for 15 minutes and before I knew it, I had my first ever Snapper!!! As soon as I saw the rod buckle and the zips of line coming out of the spool I knew what it was, which made the fight a bit nerve racking because I certainly did not want to lose it.. luckily the trusty 7/0 circles didn't disappoint and neither did the fresh salmon fillets . Measuring 63cm and weighing 3.5kg! Been waiting so long to catch one and I finally have, stoked!!! Now I want to get onto a bigger one. Heading back out tomorrow morning
