Bait for landbased gummies

Post by STriplett1997 » Sat Aug 19, 2017 12:23 pm

G'day guys,

Just after some more opinions / perspectives of baits for gummies, Specifically around Balnarring,Somers,Pt Leo. I have been using Fresh Salmon that I've been catching down at Mordi pier & Invy. Now, I know Freshly caught yourself is best, but can't always go out and catch. What's another good alternative?
Do Market bought Fish work just as well? Really don't want to use pilchards. Any tips would be great, cheers guys! :water:

Squid. If you can get on to slimies or yakkas they are great. Eel is always good also. What's wrong with pillies?

Squid. Both fresh and frozen, got my last one on an arrow squid ring.

Cheers mate. Just prefer a hardy bait that'll stay on. Frozen Squid?

Roger I'm with you. Fresh is always best. But frozen works also. I like to cut the hood into strips rather than rings. Snell 2 hooks to suit the strip size. Or 1 circle hook

For gummies, most have mine have been on a single 8/0 gamma occy circle, with a squid ring.
twin 4/0 suicides are good early season when the snaps are a bit timid, and just mouth the baits.
