Port fairy

Post by Born2fish » Sun Jun 04, 2017 8:37 am

Launched 7 am port fairy yesterday with olly and steve we trolled the 40m line moved to 60m line then out to 100m line and back to the island for no joy. It seemed that the fish had moved all boats at port fairy struggling 1 charter boat only managed 8 near the shelf and few boats with 1 fish. Was a struggle but least the weather was nice we had plenty of laughs and fun least. At end of the day we decided to micro jig the shallow reefs for fish landing plenty of couta and a really good flatty. Will be back out there again soon the season can only get better from hear the charter was saying its a bit like snapper season a bit of a slow start byt by end of the month it should fire up most fish are at shelf still

It was amazing conditions and it was good to be out on the water. My first time in the southern ocean! Thanks to Phil for taking me out! We all had a good laugh and it was a awesome day/night. Hope to do it again soon!

We caught **** all at Port Fairy as well so Chris made the call to move to Portland. Caught **** all there as well but it sounded like there had been a fair bit of action in the morning. On sunset we switched over the bottom fishing and found a school of yakkas. I put half a yakka out under a balloon more out of hope than expectation while Chris filled the bait tank for his next WPB trip or something
