pretty much use very small long shanks and use silverfish or maggots for bait. make sure to burley alot :cheers: :water: :banana:

Are you land based or boat?
Berley is pretty essential either way, but not too much. A fine mist of bread crumbs to keep them excited, but not fed. Long shank 10 or 12 size hook, pencil float and sliding stopper. You may need to play around with the depth you set the hooks below the surface. A slight chop on the surface is definitely a good thing, as they get pretty flighty when the surface is calm. when you hook them, try to get them in pretty quickly as they are quite adept at throwing the hook if left on for too long, or given any slack.

Yeah I can.burly them up lb ,just the strike rate is 1 to 20 or so times the float goes under....
If use a paternosta with silverfish I tend to catch more ...ahhh

Yeah might change hooks brand,I have just been altering sinker weightsn float depths.

if you are hooking better with paternoster rig, I would suggest you are probably a little slow with the strike on the other rig? The paternoster is more direct, so less chance of the line going slack. Sometimes I find just gently pulling the line in actually prompts a more reactive strike from the fish.
