Fishing at a normal beach
G'day guys.
The long weekend is near and weather is not the best but fishable.
I have a question
Is it worth fishing at a normal beach like rye rosebud that sort of style.
I do gunners alot
But wanted to try something different and is it worth it??
And what would be the com species caught.
Any idea's would be appriciated.
Thanks in advanve

Bay beaches are always a chance of pinkies and whiting if you pick the right beach

Re: Fishing at a normal beach
It's about structure. The reason Gunna produces is because the wash over gutters produces good cover and food for predators. If you go to a featureless beach with clear water and no waves it is less likely to produce much. Fish are funny though it only takes a tiny bit of structure to attract them....could be a headland....a weed bed or a sandbar that produces a gutter.....it might only be a tiny featureless reef like the one at Mordiallic. Piers are perfect as they provide everything a fish could ever want....shelter and food. Come to think of it that's really what humans want as well! All common sense really and certainly not scientific but it might give you an idea or two.
