What are these used for

Post by davek » Tue Jan 10, 2017 1:06 pm

I would have to say I've never seen these lures/jigs before. Can someone please tell me what they are or used on, cheers davo

They are called ice jigs, supposedly good for redfin and used the same way as a bobber / knife jig. Ive got one at home and tried it a few times with no luck

Yes they're ice jigs. Fishing from a boat I have found good for redfin, bass & yellas. they were around a few years back & then disappeared for a while. Seem to have come back in vogue in the last couple of years. They circle around on the drop. Great when the fish are shut down or fishing around trees.

You have a big problem Davo. You need to freeze your favorite channels to be able to use them.

They are great for the above species as mentioned.
They are great up your way in Waranga Basin.
The only issue I see with the ones you have there is that you can replace the treble hook but not the singles and they do look very rusted in the photo.
