What reel, line, leader etc should I get for it? Looking for functionality without costing too much because I doubt it will get much use if any

Hahah yes. But not for squidding. I wanted a matching reel for the emeraldas rod. Others would have bought something else. Most likely another luvias lol

i've only got basic understanding but the reel is usually only used to hold line so a cheapy will do (exception is bigger saltwater fish). a weight forward floating line is where i was told to start, get one in either 7wt or 8wt for that rod. leader will vary depending on target and fly. i start with a bit of 25lb tied to the flyline, then some 16lb, then i end with my end bit which is usually 8lb. those are exact length measurements btw ;-)

i chase carp on a similar rated outfit, and have also used it for tiny salmon and reddies so far. probably good for trout lakes for the larger fish too

Just looking at the internet, I think you've just found your Lake Tyers/Marlo dusky flathead fly rod that will fit into your yak (4pce). Load up with a 7wt clear intermediate line (such as the cold water Striper from SA/RIO). Nail knot a braided loop on the end and just customise a leader set up according to your needs. eg 6ft 10lb fluoro carbon for PPB Australian salmon or 6ft 15lb for dusky flathead. At 9ft6in, I think it will be too long for bass or trout in a yak. But open water in PPB or bank the yak and wade the shallows for the dusky will be perfect with the extra length. My 2cents worth.

Just got these delivered today. Some of the strongest hooks I have seen from Gamakatsu lots of spares in the larger sizes should be good for some SBTs.

Got a big old f-11 spotted dog cause size matters!

Also bought a 5cm bullet minnow five-o. Why? Cause the salesman told me that with todays lure prices I couldn't afford not to buy one!

Had the new model Muzza's ''Gem" lure sent to me to try out on the trout down here in Tassie. Just love the colour of it and was told the larger 9 cm & 11 cm models have been taking plenty of trout in Victoria's Alpine region. If it works as good as the other Muzza's hard body lures I have used and caught plenty of trout on, I'll be more than happy.. They're available from JB Tackle (Ebay) and are well priced too. I usually by them in lots of three for $15-00 plus $3-00 postage. Good thing is they work....
cheers
