If you ever need cheap good jigs you could try Rui jigs from ebay or yamashita jigs from here: https://japanlureshop.com/

just make sure you change the currency to AUD up the top left before you start looking at prices and

Cheers mate  will do i'll have a crack with the ones I've got and inevitably I will lose some so definitely have a look at that site.
Just one question is it worth buying some smaller 2.5's as well??

Thanks
Marty.
I only use 3.0s and they seem to work fine but maybe a better squid fisho than me can give you better advice.

No, don't bother with smaller jigs. They will catch squid and people will say you should use them, but they will be no up being a waste of money, I have about $250 worth of 2.5 jigs, just sitting in my tackle storage in the shed, no longer use any that small. I should sell them actually.

Is that because you fish Mornington and further south Brett and the smaller jigs aren't suited? Wondering if 2.5 jigs would be suited for the top of the bay?

I used to use 1.8 and 2.5 jigs all the time, especially with the drop shot rig at Mornington.
However, since going the way of egi and spending unscrupulous amounts of money on gear that's not needed, I never use the drop shot rig and rely on knowing the sink rate(or damn close to it) and working the jig (like some tool trying to crack a stock whip, with limited success) so probably more a change in tactics than location.
2.5 jigs can come in handy in shallow water with a slower sink rate, for me, I just cast more and try to impart more action on the jig, so it's more noticeable. I get some sometimes and sometimes I don't.

It's not often I'm out fished though as a few on here can attest.

Personally I believe there is a place for 2.5's in your arsenal but what size you use the most will really depend on where you are chasing them

the only time i use a 2.5 or smaller is when i'm trying to get finnicky squid to eat or i'm fishing really shallow water. even that i'd rather use a slow sink 3.0 if i had any

i only buy size 3.5 for the record. The only thing I change is the sink rates. I have no slow sink but I do have a few fast sink jigs which have been the difference between donutting and getting a few when the tide is ripping through in wpb.
