Re: FV port Albert trip. 25,26,27 november
So there's been some good reports coming outta port Albert n Welshpool! Gummies to 4-5 ft inside at port Albert the snapper have showed up in good size and numbers around Singapore deep out at Welshpool.. port Albert has also been producing some good size calamari n kgw!
I will be up cup weekend n will report back on what's been caught
Also.. there is 18 beds so lets fill em up! Last year we had only 5 on the trip but we all had a ball!

Re: FV port Albert trip. 25,26,27 november
Just got home from an awesome long weekend trip at port Albert!
Left truganina at 4pm straight from the job site, crawled through citylink thinking I'd have been better off going home n leaving early Saturday.. I arrived at Welshpool at approx 7:15 had a smoke got a slab n kept going. Arrived around 8pm unpacked n cracked a beer n a few more followed till I went to bed.
Not having a boat I woke up packed my car n headed up to tarraville (5 min) n fished the tarra river with a friend the fishing was average.with small trevalley toadies and some big poddy mullet. Sandworms being bait of choice!
Went back into port Albert in the arvo n fished the jetty but didn't do so well.
Sunday I went out with another club member in his tinny before it got too windy n fished inside near the old port.. went in shallow trying for frogs but didn't have much luck. We found a little inlet amongst the mangroves ventured up n found a 10ft hole, threw plastics for no result but we grabbed a great flathead each. I got mine on my 1-3kg daiwa megaforce rod n 1000 reel n 6 or 8 lb line.. what a fight! Screamed off everytime I started to see my leader knot! Once I finally got a chance to net it I thought the fight was over but it fell through an undiscovered hole in the net n shot off again! I finally got it up again with my tip in the net n just deadlifted the thing into the boat! 61cm n from memory was 1.8kg. I only weighed in 3 frogs for the trip but with the company I had the trip was one of the best I've had in a long time!
There were some nice bags weighed in some nice gummies n flathead this time of year! Heaps of big Ep frames at the boat ramp too!
One 14kg gummy weighed in!
One at 4kg inside
Some big frogs from 45-68cm aswell!
Yesterday I braved the winds n went out (in a bigger boat) targeting more flathead. We got plenty but none of significant size.. saying that they were all keepers legally but we didn't want any under 38-40cm. Along with some tailor salmon and two whopper banjos we pulled up stumps n moved towards the snake channel in hopes for a gummy or snapper.. we dropped pick n rope got stuck in the tiller so our day out was cut short but made up for it at the pub!
Hungover this morning I packed up cleaned up n came back!
New bathroom is finished n equipped with a new very fancy shower! Hope to see a few forum members next month
