Patterson River (Launching Point)
I decided to hit up the Patto Saturday night (12th). It was very quiet. Only a few bites fishing between the bridge and the boat ramps, so I decided to head to the launching point to pick up some mullet. This time I came prepared with size 14 Owner Mosquito hooks I bought off eBay, and a very light float with 1m of leader held down by a few split shot. Right from the get go the bites were going off but instead of reeling in what I thought would be yellow eye mullet, was a school of baby bream, millions of them. Now I just need to wait 'til they grow up.
Thanks to all who replied to my last post and gave me tips on how to catch mullet.
Cheers,
A.S.

Im glad your new rig worked out! Its always good to be able to find out whats picking your baits, hopefully next time some mullet turn up, that rig works well on garfish too off piers, etc, around the bay.

It's always great when you're able to find out/research a new plan and have it work. Well done mate!

Re: Patterson River (Launching Point)
Sorry to dig up an old post. Going to be fishing the river quite a lot as i've just moved to the area so will have a few reports to make! Flicked a blade around today for a couple of hits and what i think was a Tupong. Just going off the banks. Found there was lots of algae around which was making things a bit slow. Just wondering if anyone has tried above the highway bridge in the freshwater? Wouldn't mind knocking a few carp out, cheers!

If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Re: Patterson River (Launching Point)
last few trips to the Patterson the build up of weed has been problematic. Had hoped for more rain to flush the system out before tings warmed up, but does not look like that will happen now.
Planning to head back there on Saturday evening and fish in incoming tide - fingers cross I can get past the weed and to the bream......
