Finally....

Post by DougieK » Fri Nov 06, 2015 1:57 pm

Been a while since i've had the pleasure of posting a good Gunnamatta report.....I think the last one was April 15th.

Met up with Adtrac after the storm last night, spun the gun from about 630. Adam picked up a nice little fish on the trip down there. We were joined by Carl shortly afterwards and hiked down to the end.

As the next bank of clouds rolled in and the ocean mist started to settle on the beach the place got eerily dark. I had to stop casting for a few minutes just to enjoy the drastic difference 15 minutes can make. Snapped this image will will not to it justice ofcourse.

Starting to lose hope we drifted back towards the stairs. Just on last light, ads, hooked up....then carl....then me. Madness in the space of about 6 or 7 minutes.

I managed to drop my first three fish. The first one felt really really good too. I love inline singles but was using a slug with treble on it that I hadn't got around to changing yet. The boys dropped a couple each as well but we ended up all landing at least one.

Nice to post a positive report from the Gun after what has been an absolutely sh!thouse year. Happy to have some fresh strip baits for tomorrow nights stealth mission as well.

Finally good to see some action down there and also you have your bait sorted.
P.S. What size won the salmon comp down there this year? Missed the email the store sends out every year

2.7kg won. I entered a 2.36 as the first fish in the comp, after the shocking season I thought I might have it wrapped up but nope.

Nice one, I was round the corner myself last night. Was fairly eerie when the seafog rolled in but didn't help the fishing that much. Couple of trevs and lost something long and thin which Im guessing was a pike. Good to see the gunn up and running, have blanked the last 5 trips down there.

Good to hear, sounds like an awesome evening on the beach. I've got a couple of mates who I fish landbased with and if the salmon are around we might look at spinning Gunna in the evening and soak some big baits into the night.

Last night would have been ideal for sharking. We had that discussion walking back up. Didn't have any clothes with me or i might have hung around.
