Lake Eppalock
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has fished lake eppalock recently.
Have never been out their myself but was looking to have a go. There seems to be a few boat ramps which is great, does anyone know if these ramps have a ramp fee attached and if so how much.
Also i have heard that the east pool is one of the best areas out there to fish.
Cheers guys, Chris

Not sure about the ramp fees but there are plenty of ramps. Derrinal pool is not bad once the skiers are off it. The DEPI haves done a recent stocking of fingerlings. The yellow belly might still be going. Reddies are always a chance.

Re: Lake Eppalock
No ramp fee. There are reddies, yellas and the odd cod. I've only caught reddies there, but haven't been there for awhile. I know it's dropped heaps though.
Cheers, Scott.

Can't help with ramps because I fish yak based there. Getting a bit late for yellas because the water temp will be cooling but always worth a go, they will be hard work though. I mainly fish yabbies around structure for yellas and theres big reddies in there although I haven't gotten any yet. Worms will usually get you small reddies (sometimes they're biting, sometimes not) and theres plenty of carp in there.
I always fish the Eastern side near the Holiday park but I've been meaning to try the Southern reaches of the lake.

Yep, but I'm unsure how successful the stockings are...very rarely see reports of trout coming out of there.BIG GAV wrote:Gets stocked annuallytruebluehendo wrote:Are there any trout in there ?

Re: Lake Eppalock
Haven't fished there for a few months, so can't give you a recent report, but as already mentioned cod and yellas are present but are tough to tempt at this time of year now the water has dropped in temp. There are trout in there, but they're few and far between. Because of the other species present, they should try putting browns in as opposed to rainbows, as they are a tougher breed and would have a better chance of surviving. Rainbows are sissy fish that get belted around by other fish too easily. This way the lake would get the best of both worlds...natives and reddies in the hotter months, and trout in the colders months.
At this time of year your best chance would be for reddies, but even they haven't fired very well this season. If you can pick up 1x 2kg fish though, that's all it takes...
Hopefully we will receive some good rains over the next few months to put some water back in these lakes.
There are no ramp fees at any freshwater ramps that I'm aware of....yet, but don't tell anyone...
