burnt kayak repair
This kayak is owned by a guy that travels around Australia in a bus, One day he didn't do the straps up tight enough and the yak blew against the vertical bus exhaust pipe. it was a tuff repair and involved a lot of thinking outside the square to get it looking nice.
after cutting out the burnt and melted hull material a large hole was left
a patch was cut from an old hatch cover after making a cardboard template
the patch was welded in at the bottom and shaped using a blowtorch, my favourite tool. more shaping, more welding and clamping to get the shape right
And now its sea worthy again.
Cheers Yakdoc

Re: burnt kayak repair
I'd be more than happy if that was my yak
