Where to go tomorrow?? Freshwater

Post by Boonanza » Sun Jul 03, 2011 4:34 pm

G'day guys I've got an RDO tomorrow and been planning to take the kids fishing somewhere on lake eildon but as the weather looks like it will be pretty ordinary so I think fishing on a lake in the open will be a waste of time apart from freezing to death. :shocker: I still want to go somewhere on a river at least that way you can find shelter somewhere. With the closed trout season alot of my favourite streams are closed so I'm at a bit of loss as to where to go within say an hour and a half from Melbourne. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Cheers Steve

Hazelwood pondage, the kids will have a ball on catching the cichlids. They are bloody easy to catch!

Thanks for that Beno  I never thought about Hazlewood I'll keep an eye on the weather but it could be worth a try :rain:

No worries Steve, great place for kids and on a cold early morning the place looks very mysterious with the fog sheets coming off the water. Fish near the bridge or the banks ( banks are kid friendly and you dont even have to cast a meter to get onto a fish) :)

Heres a vid I made on hazelwood pondage - http://youtu.be/zzYWBR8wwB8
