Yarra at wonga park producing fish

Post by ChrisD » Fri Jan 04, 2013 10:48 am

Finally having some success in the Yarra again. Mac perch have been on the bite and the kids are getting carp on corn. Hoping to also find some Redfin, but no joy as yet.

To eat I assume? The old reddie comes in handy for that! Good tasting and bordering on a noxious species - best option in freshwater to eat as far as I'm concerned. Nice maca as well. Do macas take lures or predominantly bait?
thanks

with two daughters fishing with me it is all catch, photo and release. Keeps them keen, if we start bringing them home to eat i think the would stop coming.
The Mac Perch have been getting caught on good old garden worms. Have not had much luck with lures in the yarra at this stage, tried all sorts but found bait works best.

Got a nice Macca down there about 2 weeks ago too. Was a few hours of sit and wait for it but always worth it in the end. Put him back so I can catch him again one day. Good to hear they're on the go. Will probably head down there Friday morning.
If only I could fish more
