Karkarook today
Gday
Was at karkarook from 11:00-1:30 today, used a mix of pink powerbait and spinners/plastics. Managed to grab a decent 28 cm rainbow on powerbait in our last half hour there. As per usual, powerbait was falling off the hook just about every cast and after a while a bunch of fish came pretty close to the shore and were eating the chunks off of the surface, then one finally scoffed my bait not long afterwards.
Heaps of people were around but it looked like no one was catching anything except for us. Next time i'm down there i might give my flies a go since they were eating from the surface.
Also, i heard that it got stocked recently with yellowbelly and cod? has anybody managed to get any from there?

Used to be good with plenty of redfin and trouts, but the last few years it's been hammered by a lot of people.
Used to catch trouts and redfins on fly easily.

Re: Karkarook today
A few years ago i heard a lot about all the reddies in karkarook. Never seen anyone catch any. These days the trout only like powerbait and you'd be lucky to get a perch on a plastic or something, and usually the stocked trout get cleaned up by everyone in a couple weeks. its a shame because its conveniently close.

If your trying to catch trout i'd get in there quick because the stocked ones get cleaned up in a few weeks. I didn't get so much as a tap on my lures so I think they're just not interested.sasquatch972 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 4:11 pmMight have to start going back there again, used to catch heaps with lures about 5 years ago.

Yeah, shame. Small lake yet people are bagging it, taking them home. Those cods and yellowbellies wont last long there.
