Stocked Lakes
I posted a forum a month or two ago about trout and stocked lakes. My mates and I are heading down to Lilydale on early Thursday morning and I was just wondering if the lakes have actually been stocked yet well if Lilydale has. I been researching on the VFA website but haven’t really found what I’m looking for. If you know anything please reply..

Re: Stocked Lakes
Just seen this on another site from VFA.
It’s business as usual for our Snobs Creek hatchery team, who have stocked more than 100,000 trout since the school holidays began.
Rowville, Lilydale and Pakenham lakes were lucky enough to receive more catchable size rainbow trout (350, 400 and 400 respectively), so these family fishing lakes are worth another try this weekend before the kids return to school.
The rest of our yearling trout went to:
West Barwon Dam – 5,000 brown trout & 5,000 rainbow trout
Tullaroop Reservoir – 10,000 rainbows
Barkers Creek Reservoir – 5,000 browns
Hepburn Lagoon – 5,000 browns & 5,000 rainbows
Upper Stoney Creek Reservoir – 20,000 rainbows & 5,000 browns
Bostock Reservoir – 2,500 browns & 7,000 rainbows
Lake Bullen Merri – 5,000 browns
Lauriston Reservoir – 9,000 browns
Upper Coliban Reservoir – 5,000 browns & 10,000 rainbows
Lake Hume – 10,000 rainbows
Shout out to local anglers Rex McDonald, John Bowden, Barry Jones, Ted Jackson, Ross Hogan, Leo Mckenna and Chris McDonnell (pictured) who helped us stock Lake Hume today and who have donated their boats and time towards stocking the lake over many years.
We stocked a record 6 million fish last season to make your inland fishing even better. Check out the numbers and where they all went here: vfa.vic.gov.au/6million.

Hey mate,, noob question, about what size is a yearling? And is it a literal term for a one year old? Or just a general characterisation word for young fish?
Cheers

Most trout and salmon stocked by the Authority are released as yearlings weighing between 30 and 60 grams (10 cm in length), for put-grow-and-take fisheries. Small numbers of larger trout are stocked during holiday periods for direct put-and-take fisheries in small lakes and ponds close to urban and regional centres.
