Cairn curran and surrounds

Post by Geelongmad » Thu Nov 02, 2017 8:19 pm

Hi, was hoping to get a report on how Cairn curran or surrounding places are fishing? Planning on heading that way this weekend so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Don't want to kill the mojo but I heard from a very good source that the river below the wall has been producing good yellas and a few bi-catch cod on both lure and bait. Just watch out for snakes, been a few seen.

A fella showed me a photo of a 4kg brown trout caught about a month or two ago in cairn curran. They were fishing out of a boat using some sort of big rapala lure, looked more like the kind of thing you'd be using for cod.

I did a bit of land based fishing there last month and caught a lot of carp, they were rising all over the shop.

The club had there meet and I dropped in for a quick visit at the camp and saw two nice Yellas get entered, a 51cm and a 52cm. My son and I fished most of the day but only managed a few reddies. The wind was up and it was pretty tough going although my 11 year old managed his first baitcaster session pretty well. I'm training him up for the cod classic next month.
