Deniliquin Picnic Point

Post by kenzie101 » Sat Sep 16, 2017 4:17 pm

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has fished here before, in particular land based.

Thinking about heading that way for a few nights in a few weeks.

Fished heaps around Echuca and did ok, don't know much about Deni and Mathoura.

Thanks,
Mark.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I fished there quite a few times.

Just try to find some yabbies as bait..there not easy to source atm unless you have your own supply

In around the narrows it flows fast and yabbies work well, just remember you need a NSW licence when fishing the Murray.
The narrows are very close to picnic point if not at it

G'day kenzie,Lots of spots for bank fishing around there. You can fish from the caravan park itself or chase some carp in the gulpa creek which is alongside the picnic point road.Go back past tarragon lodge and follow the poverty point road till you get to hut rd which follows the river downstream to the narrows, lots of spots along there.Up stream,go back to the millewa road and follow it till you cross the edwards. There you can follow it along, or keep going till you get to the 2nd gate on the right and go in there to the millewa river road which follows the river along on the NSW side.Lots of spots along there to.
Just remember its closed cod season so chasing some yellas on worm & shrimp in close to the bank is probably a better option than bringing the big gear out and using grub's cheese etc.
Good luck

Hi Drew and Ekaz,

Great information and much appreciated. Look forward to tangling with some yellows and carp. Don't mind carp on light gear, always fun. Had a look at the Picnic Point caravan park, looks nice and definetly close to the Murray, Edwards and Gulpa.

Will let you know how I go, just got to get a few days off work.

Thanks,
Mark.
