Re: Joe Blake Comes Out To Play
They must all be coming out on the same day. I was out craying in Gippsland and stumbled across one by the riverbank too. All black was all we could make him out to be, no idea on the I.D.

Re: Joe Blake Comes Out To Play
I see heaps every summer.. Always when u least expect em too! Generally I grab a big stick n just hit the ground as I'm walking to the spot. Seems to be working lol. Once spotted providing ur respectful and keep a safe distance they generally won't bother you.. Though I have heard tiger snakes being quite aggressive :/
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Its just a matter of being aware of your surroundings and using common sense as Big Gav mentioned making a bit of a commotion usually works they know your coming way before you see them if you see them at all. Its the idiots that try to provoke or harm them that can get into trouble although if its a brown snake I get out of the area completely they are bad tempered SOB's and don't need any provocation to lash out in my experience.

Re: Joe Blake Comes Out To Play
Only ever had a problem with 1 brown I spooked and a tiger on a snag that kept wanting my lure before falling off at my feet. Never owned or worn gaiters and only those 2 times have I felt I needed them
