Werribee River--access
After many years of trying to find access to the Werribee River, between Werribee Weir & Exford Reservoir, I've found it. :a_goodjob:
I found some sheep wandering on a back road & put them in a paddock.
Went to a couple of nearby farm houses & soon found out who the owner was.
I told the owner where they were & it was then I found out, the area I put them in is actually an easement & does not belong to landowners.
As the area has good feed, is secure & they are there, he would leave them for a few days.
On investigating the area, it is a bit steep, you would be about 4 to 6ft above the river.
The river is about 20ft wide, maybe 10ft deep & a few snags.
The banks in parts are ok, but box thorn cover a fair bit of the area (round-up???)
As I have recently had an arthroscope (which was unsuccessful), I did not explore too much, as I was scared of injuring my knee more.
The area, I think, is Mount Cottrell, but, not Cobbledick's Ford.
If you would like to know where it is, please P.M. me, I don't want every Tom, **** & Harry knowing, as they would just ruin the area for us fisho's.
When/if my knee comes good, I'll do some fishing & clearing of vegetation.
The fishing maybe "no good", but, it's near home & reasonably accessible. Pretty sure the Werribee River has had "stocking".
Almost forgot...The area would also be "Snake Heaven".
Cheers

Re: Werribee River--access
I once found access through farm road and had a 3 year permit to gain entry.I have had no luck this time around on knowing who to ring to find out some details. Even if it were $100 for 3 years now it would be well worth it as the Werribee river has a lot of potential for mainly bream fishing. If anyone knows anything about permit or payment please let me know.i was able to walk up to the other side of the boat ramp.

Permits and vehicle access was stopped years ago at the main farm.gregmaka wrote:I once found access through farm road and had a 3 year permit to gain entry.I have had no luck this time around on knowing who to ring to find out some details. There is no longer a road that takes you there, it has been blocked, however, there is a different access point that takes you up past the cliffs, the area Texas is talking about is above the weir and the freshwater section of the river
