Even if it doesn't a few months of stinky waterways is probably worth it if it gives the natives a chance to fight back.

Does anyone know if this method has been used in any other country's as much as I'd like to see carp gone I'm abit worried cause we don't have the best history when it comes to introducing one pest to kill another

It would be a disaster if it somehow transferred into natives.

It's gone through Europe and Asia without affecting anything other than carp and the CSIRO have apparently done plenty of research seeing if it infects natives here. One of the scientists quoted today reckons it doesn't even affect goldfish which are a really close relative of carp so something totally different like cod or whatever should be fine.
