Barra in hazlewood pondage

Post by scott__henning » Sat Nov 15, 2014 9:08 am

Heard Rex hunt on the radio this morning discussing that the stocking of barra at the poundage could become an election promise for the opposition leader.

This has been talked about before, and I for one have fingers crossed that something actually happens this time!

Hopefully they post a full time fisheries officer down there and have a bag limit of 1.

Otherwise I can see the 15000 proposed barra lasting about a month.

IMO the water quality is not amazing at hazelwood, I would hope it would be C&R only.

But how am I going to feed my 7 kids, the neighbors, the people accross the street and the guy in the car next to me if I can't take some barra?

I assume they would be fingerlings and therefore by the time they grow up lots of people would forget about it and the angling pressure would be more 'spread out'.

Haha.
Seriously though it would be great if this were to actually happen. Would bring a lot of money the area as well

I doubt people would forget that there are barra in there, I imagine it would attact many people to the area

You left out "I paid $30 for my fishing license so it's my right to take as many as I can"

The water temperature is always a minimum of 22 degrees. I heard years ago that there was saratoga in there but I am not sure if it was true or not.
