As mick said snapper, kingies and flathead when using the downrigger or deep divers, salmon and pike with top water lures in the bay, one of my most memorable was kgw on a very small popper in swan bay.purple5ive wrote:downriggers are probably the best option to go deep.

Bream, Bass (not the bays obviously), Eps, Trevally, Flathead, Salmon, Pike, Couta, Mullet, Snapper, Kingfish, KGW (only twice and both undersized), Squid, Cuttlefish, bearded rock Cod and other undesirable species all on the troll in Victoria. best session was a small bream sized hardbody on the very edge of the channel in Anderson's inlet. Literally a fish every 10 metres of just about everything listed above

Re: Trolling in the bay's
I'm temped to try a dead bait rig this year for snapper - we use a fairly successful dead bait rig on our trips north while chasing Spanish macks - long tail and other species
this would be basicly a full pilly on a wire rig that swims the bait upright - most of the time just paddling from one mark to another we are moving at a good trolling pase anyway
