success micro jigging
A surprise catch today on DIY Inckiku jig a small Gummy Shark - not a fish that you think of when jigging
quite a surprise as my baits weren't getting touched by anything so I pulled the Gomoku rod out and a home made inchiku jig
this was in 5 meter of water so I used my lightest jig at 15 gram -- that had a silver flecked squid skirt
I made these up from some old metal slugs with assist hooks and 3" squid skirts just to give it a go
being only 5 meters I worked the jig very slowly more just lifting up off the bottom and letting it fall
from a slow easy jig to fish on in a split second - this could get very addictive
rod used an OH Gomoku Erito with 15 lb braid
up till now I had caught Flatties but of cause they will hit anything that moves but talking a Gummy into taking a jig was quite a surprise even an under size fish
I was wondering how much success others are having with this light jigging

I've heard of a few gummies As jigging bycatch but that's certainly pretty cool in such shallow water on such a small jig

I've heard of gummies taking a soft plastic, but having one eat a metal lure is certainly a bit different

anchored in 5 meters straight out from the Coronet Bay boat ramp - I had one gummy rod loaded with fresh gar fish and 2 light rods with Saury and prawn -- no bait were getting touched
so the micro jig was pulled to amuse myself so i was just jigging straight under the kayak -- I figured it might attract a Flatty , but the rod just instantly loaded and I didn't feel the bite
I think it must have inhaled it on the drop
the fish was well hooked in the mouth so it wasn't just jagged
both jigging shallow and being a home brewed jig was good to

Nice work thats my tactic when the baitrods are set get the soft plastics or blade and recently the micro jigs. I have never hooked a gummy on a lure thought
