Tanjil river up at baw baw 12/10/13

Decided to do a exploration fish up the top of Mount Baw Baw in the Tanjil west river.

Spun for a few hours without a fish. Was unbelievable. I know my technique is down pat. The river up there was the troutiest thing I've ever seen. Not one fish, didn't see a fish, spook a fish, get one follow, nothing.

Is there something I've missed?
I didn't research it at all but there's not some massive waterfall that the fish cant get up or anything is there?
I'm wondering has anyone ever fished up there?
Is there any trout up there or is the only fishing up there crays?

I fish this river a lot, although it does fish WAY better at the Tyers/Tanjil river crossing, around the Caringal scout camp area near Erica.

likewise,caught some nice fish from the river,admittly not in the last year though

if you caught fish every trip it would be a bit boring lol

Even if you didn't catch anything, that scenery is perfect. Half expect a bear to appear in the background!

Is it a long drive from Melbourne CBD?

Yeah was the most picturesque place I've fished, like in Alaska or something.

Yeah if I target a fish, even when exploring, I do like to get one. Been doing it way to long to go donuts on a trip anywhere. Doesn't happen very often, very rare. Can remember the last time actually. Was pretty pissed off.

Im in Ringwood, and we just drove for about 1.5 hrs maybe. Not sure exactly. did really have a map either, just heard there was a river in the hills up there.

So is what fish are in there? Im guessing browns, but rainbows too? Crays?
Maybe the water was too cold or something?
