Hi All
Long time since posting having gone into hibernation over the winter, as I do every year!
Heading away with the family for a couple of nights down in the Otways, around the Beech Forrest/Gellibrand area.
Just wondering if anyone has advice around that area? Is the Gellibrand River accessible/worth fishing?
Cheers!

Weather shaping up perfectly, think I’ll have a go at Gellibrand river. Not much info online, though apparently plenty of Blackfish

Heard of someone hooking and dropping a ~1kg brown trout there over the weekend while fly fishing in a river near Apollo Bay, if that helps.

Have a look at the following and it will give you a good summary of fishing options in the Otways. It will also give you an indication of the fish species in the different rivers

Let us know how you get on please.

The Gellibrand around Stevenson falls is accessible, like most of the streams in that area it is small, tight fishing. Few little browns in there though.

After all that, didn’t get a great chance to wet a line, just an hour or so one morning.
Had a bit of a wander and found some little stretches which looked fishy, though think I would have had a lot more luck with worms as opposed to lures. Apparently a strong Blackfish fishery...
Lovely part of the world though, look forward to going back one day
