Just my opinion but yabbies love yabbies.

Thats what I prefer to use if baitfishing

Do you guys use the whole yabby or just the tail depending on the size of the yabby ?

Try the 1 minute steaks you get from the supermarket.


They work surprisingly well

Freshwater Gugeon is hands down the best bait I've ever used. Scoop 'em up near weed beds

They're too aggressive hitting lures to bother with bait imo. Can be good fun on 3-4" paddle tails.

Hell I've caught em on bare jigheads haha

Worms for sure, you can catch them on corn, freshwater shrimp, yabbies and cheese but worms are your best option.

Years ago when i drive up to lake eppalock with friends, we would drive through big swarms of grasshoppers and when we reach our destination on the banks we would pluck these off the front of our car and use as bait. Landed over 50 redfins most are between 17cm-27cm with 3 that went 35cm. We also had garden worms which acounted for many big carps and more redfins but strangely no carp was caught on grasshoppers. Lure fishos next to us getting donuts while we were pulling them up like a factory.
