Hanging rock
Took an 8 year old out to hanging rock today. Had a great time . We were advised Corn always gets them there. Not a touch . Met a great bloke out there keen to see the young bloke land a fish gave us worms very quickly landed our two nice trout. Then he brought over a small redfin to show the lad his favourite fish . The lad promptly landed his own and was suitably excited . Young bloke keen to plan his next trip, great place to take keen kids to have a go, and met an angler excited and keen to ensure a young lad had a good time. All in all a great day out. thanks :a_goodjob:

Re: Hanging rock
Well done. Always good when the young ones land a fish.
I am thinking of taking my son and nephew both 7 years old is it easy access to the banks. Also is this the same place as the cafe and racecourse and is it still $10 entry per car?

Re: Hanging rock
yes $10 entry per car well spent for good fishing. yes it is the same place lake is in the centre of the race track. yes it is easy access go to top car park and the gates are open across the race track . Need to stop at lower car park and pay fee at kiosk. We caught 2 plate size trout on worms 1 small redfin also on worms and had plenty of bites on soft plastics but no fish landed. Highly recommended the kids will love it, and if the fishing is ordinary there is a lot to do in the park.

Re: Hanging rock
Late report....
Took the young bloke down this week to hanging rock got donuts using garden worms. Was very cold but still enjoyed some quality father son time.
Thinking about heading up to kyneton and fishing either the Laurison on Upper Coliban but have never fished there before. Is anyone able to advise which is the better of the two and how to go about accessing the banks (eg which road / turn off to take) as google maps isn't much help.

Re: Hanging rock
The only problem up that way is the wind will cut you in half this time of year. I recommend taking him to the Coliban river just out of Redesdale there is some nice water with plenty of reddies and also carp if you use bait. You can normally always find shelter from the wind somewhere on a river.

Yeah the forcast this weekend isn't the greatest and the wind is a killer at them moment so might give it a miss.
If you don't mind me asking whats the best place to access the river. Im not from around there and have no idea which track to rake after the hwy.
