Ferntree Gully Quarry 2/10/15

Post by arabshark » Fri Oct 02, 2015 7:43 pm

I hit the quarry at about 9am - 12pm and got nicely cooked by the morning sun. 2 small redfion landed and returned on scrub worms (running ball sinker rig used). I threw some lures and soft plastics as well, had one decent hit a few follows. All the strikes happened on the first cast with a different plastic or lure. The fish there picky little buggers.

Try a pink tassie devil in the smallest size. Something about that lure is crack for reddies.

How is that stocked? Is there a river that goes into it or does the government stock it?

It's a lone lake. I don't know how it is stocked.

It just catches the run off from the surrounding hills, so any fish have been put there by someone. It isn't stocked by fisheries, but that doesn't mean someone hasn't run their own clandestine native stocking program; as far as I know it is just redfin in there.

Yeah had to be stocked by locals! No waterway runs into it
