Re: Portland, Vic: North Shore Challenge 2019
Damn good report, and excellent pictures! Thanks for posting.
As a matter of course I managed to get down to Portland on Saturday (02/02) to fish the breakwall and landed 10 x 35cm+ PInkies, and on any other day I would have been quite happy with that, but I really was aching for the Kings to come and visit the wall that morning. *sigh*

we fished the Power Station the year after Minny pulled this fish with the S.A guys none of us pulled fish but we did see a 30 kg fish caught by a boat right beside us - they do get some horses there in Port AugustaReeling wrote: that's what I aiming for haha
they also get some big grey fish there to one tipped Gab out the year after we were there by having a little chew on his kayak and put some nice holes in his hobie - they guess it was 4 - 4 1/2 meters
We didn't see any Whites while we were there but it is an area that a shark shield may be of use
talking to Chris ( squidy ) the guy with the AI that was on the beach with us not in the comp he said the kings were being found closer to the bridge than the old power station since the power station had been turned off maybe the water is a bit warmer further up the gulf - who knows
must say P/Augusta is a nice place to kayak you just have to dodge the G/Whites
My kayak PBs

That’s a Great vid mate!
Can see why you were so frustrated. That was a decent fish!
Hopefully you will have success landing one next time.
Really enjoyed watching the underwater footage!

Re: Portland, Vic: North Shore Challenge 2019
Thanks Dazz. Part of the reason I bought the waterwolf for education. I used it recently on my lazy squid rod. When I got home to watch the footage, I had a couple of squid follows, but also had a couple of whiting inspecting. I decided to go back on sunday past, and managed to pick up a couple of KGW between 35-37cm.
Another educational aspect of it has been when I have come across "stuff" on the sounder and being able to cross reference with underwater footage to find out whether it's weed of small fish etc.
