Record Flathead???
just got this on face book
a bloke named Greg Finney with a 14kg flathead from Mallacoota. Released to give someone else some fun.
Could this be a world record?

Re: Record Flathead???
Could be. A pic from another angle would be handy to make sure it isn't the old 'hold it close to the camera' trick though.

Re: Record Flathead???
according to some places flathead to 15kg have been caught but I believe the official record is much lower than that. the other thing I'll mention is with a fish that size it needs to be supported and not just lifted by its head.

Agreed some fisho's just don't get how much damage they are doing using lip or gill lifts it severely decreases their chances of survival after release.mazman wrote:according to some places flathead to 15kg have been caught but I believe the official record is much lower than that. the other thing I'll mention is with a fish that size it needs to be supported and not just lifted by its head.
If its intended for the plate fine but if its to be released use a comfort lift and support its body weight and don't keep it out of the water too long.

It's older than that. One of the problems with facebook highlighted in that thread last week, so many morons believing everything they see as gospelfitzy90 wrote:This was from 2012, been doing the rounds for a while!

I would like this, but we aren't on Facebook, so I'll just have to agree 100 times over.
