The fly that I have had best results with is a chartuse closure minnow with weighted eyes to get it down to the fish . The only problem is the weight makes them harder to cast and that means the average 6# rod won't be able to cast to well. In saying that I normally use an 8# with a bonefish intermediate line so I can get it down 3 or4 feet to where the fish are .
I normally fish Gippsland or southern NSW estuary for flattys but around port Albert Welshpool area is another good place to try
