I like the zman grubz 2 to 2.5 inches - water melon and motor oil. Size 2 hook with a 1/12 jig head. Flatties are not that particular, i caught a 45 cm one on a half melted zman.

I've hit them in northern PPB using paddle tails rigged with a 1/8 or even 1/6 jig head.

Key is to let it hit bottom. Normally, a flatty will hit it either just before it hits the bottom or just as it hits (both on the drop). If land based, try and bounce along the bottom back towards you.

Good luck mate

With soft plastics and flatties when land based this has been the plastic that has done the most damage for me :)

Can't go wrong with paddle tails for flatties
