A hallowed topic

Post by GTSHoon » Thu Apr 17, 2014 1:23 pm

Hi guys,
hope this thread finds you well!
I have recently been wondering about the LBG scene in victoria and started doing some research with very little info specific to victoria in return. So i have a couple of questions, and i would be greatly obliged if you would provide an answer! I know this topic is very secretive as it is a niche fishery so any info would be hugely appreciated!
The questions i have are 2 fold:
1. What species are available in Victoria and what general areas are they available?
2. What general sought of gear is required?
I understand that this is a very secretive way to fish and members of this "fishing brotherhood" have worked hard for any i formation they have received so if you don't want to share to the public forum just shoot me a pm :)

The problem I see hoon is the lack of platforms into deep water along the Victorian coast line

the very limited platforms would only accommodate limited anglers in a session

that's why I assume the spots are kept close by the ones in the know

I have fished some in NSW a long time ago but not in Victoria, that's my take on things.

You caught a lot of them lately. You were flooding me with SMS bragging about your catch. Now, tell us where you got them. :Blah:

sharks are probably your best bet here, or move to NSW..
the only location i could possibly steer you in is to cowes pier.
there are people who fish for kingfish landbased but i wouldnt have a clue where and how.

for king fish land based just follow the salmon schools. Often times there are king fish under them.

Kings landbased is easy to work out... It's the walks and climbs to the rocks that is the hardest.

Thankyou for your advice guys, may have to head to to NSW as my uncle and auntie only live 10-15 mins from the tube which would be fantastic! May have to get out for some kingies off the rocks, what general area should i target?

plenty of places you can access with rock ledges and deep water in Vic, some of them are dangerous, just hard work getting there with all the gear you need for lbg.
