Prior to this I already had two tiagra 30W and recently bought two tiagra 50W, running 24kg mono.

The 30's were on Nitro Gulf streams, that had been modified to have roller tips and roller stripper guide. The 50's were on 24 kg Penns. We also ran a shotgun, off a spinning reel with braid. My son thought it would be easier to use, but after battling using this he gave up that idea.

3 fish were caught on the 30's and one on the spinning reel.

K's travelled I estimate some between 40-50's, will know later when I download the sonar log. We started at first light headed out to around 120 metres to Cape Bridgewater in shallow and then back out wide.

Didn't see a blue whale or any orca's, in fact didn't even see any dolphins on Saturday, so where did you go?

Nice one! Always good to get out and catching fish is a bonus. Mate went out on Fiday - did 140km on the water for zippo fish. Launched at Portland, went over towards Bridgwater, then went wide for 30 kms and then over to Julia Percy reef. He settled for some pinkies in the end near the harbour....

Both of them were kicking around south of the rock, easy to miss. We did an entire day Saturday and half a day Sunday for barrels 3/4 of the time though. The other 1/4 of the time we fished for school fish and got 9 pretty easily.

On Sunday Took a short cut between the rock and the mainland, following some other boats, and had wave that was somewhere between 3-4 metres rear up, the landing on the otherside was a bit hard. So we did a big u turn and headed back to Portland bay and trolled around there on Sunday, we were hoping for a barrel on Sunday, but didn't even turn a reel.
