We woke this morning to rain but not high wind bonus we thought. We launched at 7 and made our way to the top end of the 12 mile and started to look for bait plenty around but deep, gav and tuna tube were on bait collecting duties today gav pulls up a stting of 6 slimes and the tube just sucks about how hard it is we find out why when he gets them to the surface they are frigate mackerel.
We pop two on as livies 1 on the downrigger and 1 up high and start to troll at 2 knots.we trolled for an hour nothing time to switch to skip baits and cover more ground.we rig up the frigate mackerel as skip baits.

we decide to head towards the kink but half way there we come across a marlin slashing through a bait school.
We quickly swap back to live bait and troll around the bait school for 20 mins nothing we decided to put 1 bait deep on the down rigger. Within 2 minutes the down rigger pops and the tiagra howls the tube is up on the rod we strap him in and clear the decks. I was driving dave the leaderman and gav on the gopro 25 minutes later a nice well lit up striped marlin was at the boat we tag him and get some photos the revive and release him.
We saw plenty more marlin free jumping and people hooked up but we couldn't get any more oh well always tomorrow.

I am in my mates boat this year a 680 patriot same colours as my boat Scott. Plenty caught today you are getting here as the better weather arrives
