Arrived in bermie wed,
We picked up the boat and settled into or house and had a couple of well earned drinks.
The next day the wind is howling no fishing in the 680 but daves uncle took us out on his blackwatch we smashed our way to the 12 mile only to find his boat had developed a water leak so we headed back just as well it was rough even on a 36ft boat.
Friday arrives and the wind is 15kts and strengthening to 20 + later. We headed out to the 12 mile about 1 k short a group of birds working we headed over to find a marlin tailing and we have no bait.
We tried for bait but it was scarce so we put some lures out within 10 minutes we came across a large bait school drop the jigs down 30 fathoms and pull up 10 slimeys we have one bait on the rigger up high and one on the downrigger and commence to troll.
We passed over a school of bait with a big arch then bang the boat beside us hooks up oh well.
We keep trolling listening to the radio lots of marlin being caught but not for us. We decide to pull the baits in and troll skip baits to cover more ground. As we stop just about to wind the rod in it pulls out of the rigger clip the nothing as we wind the bait in it flutters on the surface and a marlin smashed it drop the reel into free spool count to 6 lift the drag lever and wind and we are on the surface take was fantastic.
30 mins later and a stripey was tagged and sent on its way.
We put baits out again and 30 mins later the rigger pulls and the reel howls then nothing as I go to pick the rod up it howls again the nothing I wait nothing as I wind the line in it tensions up and I am on 10 mins I can see the leader its a small black the bang the hook pulls silence on the boat.
By know the wind is pushing 20 knots and we head for home 2.2.1
The forecast for tomorrow strong wind but backing off so a possible late start I am here for ten days so some better weather ahead
always a relief this year tuna tube had his alcohol intake limited. The best thing no boat to tow dave left his 680 here from his jan trip.bermagui 24, 2 17

Don't believe every thing you read we saw 4 marlin tailing but didn't claim them as raised. The southern end of the 12 mile was the spot today just look for bait around the 30 fathom mark.
There is also heaps of makos around.
Looking at the weather wind dying off will be a late start for us
