CRAY FISHING - with 200km of Melbourne area

Post by Fish-cador » Mon Nov 07, 2011 10:24 pm

Hello ladies. :haha2:

Can we catch cray fish around the bay areas, WP and PPB and adjacent bass straight rockies? If so, what is the best bait? I reckon, any fish minced and put on bait bag or onion bag will do. Any thoughts?

Thanks

hay shazz.. the crays come out at night all over the rocks to feed and the low tide exposes them

Thanks guys.

Shazz knows where I am planning to try....back beaches. :wink1: Closed season ends Nov 15. Weather permitting, I will hit the rocks one evening during low tide. The rocks are only accessible during low tide anyway. Sad I cant use crab pots. Using hoop nets require constant checks which will be annoying.

Vinhii, almost every creatures come out at night. Crays, the bloody sand crabs and even those with crabs start appearing in Inkerman St. :lolf:

just wondering if there is a bag limit on sand crabs?

we used a hoop net today out from somers and caught 4. were the size of a saucer...

caught them during the day which from what ive heard on here is unusual?

might get another net, they were bloody delicous
