Tides

Post by fishhead » Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:52 am

Low & high tides are self explanatory. But can someone please tell me what an "ebb tide" is?
I read it many times in books but don't really know what it is.

An ebb tide, is a falling or outgoing tide and a flood tide is a rising tide.

Got it!! Thanks Brett

And the peroid b/t ebb & flood tides when there is little current must be "still tide" correct?

I generally use the term "slack water" for between the tides. Depending on where you are fishing, this can vary from 5 or 10 mins up to an hour.
