Fisherman feared drowned in Western Port Bay

Post by fishingvic » Tue May 10, 2011 10:33 am

I get an aweful feeling when reading news headlines like this....Quote from the Heralsd-Sun Website this morning 10/05/2011 http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-n ... 6052956549
A BOAT discovered unmanned at anchor in Western Port Bay last night has prompted fears its owner may have died.

Police began searching for the 64-year-old Benalla man after he was reported missing at about 7pm.

They found the boat at about 8.30pm in waters just off Pelican Island in Victoria's east, near Phillip Island.

He is believed to have gone fishing by himself.

The Air Wing, SES, police, volunteers and rescue coordinators searched for the man throughout the night.

The search is continuing.
Thoughts go out to his friends and family.
