Powlett River boneheads...
Took the kids along to the Powlett today for a line-wetting session - didn't expect to catch anything and wasn't disappointed...
However, I was more than slightly pissed-off at the amount of crap (as ever) that fishos/bogans leave behind. The path from the road-bridge that heads north along the west side of the river was strewn with empty beer-bottles and cans, 'camp-fires' with half-burnt crap in them, fishing tackle packets and bundles of line dumped in the grass - if these f*ckwits can be bothered to bundle it up, why the hell don't they take it home with them? Also makeshift 'toilets' behind the bushes with scraps of shitty toilet paper all over the place.
Most upsetting of all - especially for the kids - was the sight of a swallow that had obviously picked up a piece of discarded line (presumablyy to make it's nest) and had become entangle in the line and been hung by the neck. Whoever's responsible was perhaps not as malicious as the pr*ck who killed those wedge-tailed eagles, but is equally as deserving of a punch in the face.

How hard is it to dump all the crap in a plastic bag and at the end of the day throw it in the car ? It's impossible to fathom how little people care.

I went on a charter a while ago. I shall not name names, but this charter is held in some esteem around these parts. The service itself was excellent. The vessel. The skipper and crew know their work. They also have the very fine habit of flinging cigarette butts into the bay.

And people wonder why there is popular support for marine parks that restrict recreational fishing
