Best Lure?
Hey guys,
Recently, I've been going saltwater fishing around my area using baits. However, as much as I like using pippies and pilchards, I wanna try something different. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good lures that I could use, for general saltwater fishing. Off Cunningham Pier, at Barwon Heads, on a boat at clifton springs...just something that is good all-round. I'm not after the big fish, just small ones like flathead, whiting, salmon etc.
I'd appreciate if anyone would give me their suggestions and put me on the right track!
Cheers,
Angus

Thanks for your reply dazz999. I had a look at soft plastics and jigheads, but generally the pair is about $20...Is there a cheaper option?

Once paired up soft plastics and jig heads work out quiet cheap as you generally get 7 or so of each in a pack. At about $3 it’ll be hard to finder a cheaper lure that will do as good job

Re: Best Lure?
as already mentioned soft plastics and a packet of jigheads will do the trick for you
Kmart have cheaper options for both.
i suggest you buy the kmart jigheads and a packet of minnow or paddle tail styled plastics from any brand and practice with that.
it wont be easy to catch them at first, but give it a good go and eventually you will get them, first ones are the hardest it gets easier after that.
quite a few guys on here that can catch them with their eyes closed, and also a lot who struggle with them, all i can say is practice make you perfect.
i fish plastics 99% of the time these days and more than happy to help you out but im on the other side in frankston, if your down this way let me know and if im free i can give you a hand..
you can also catch redfin on lures, get some paddle tail or curltail plastics in 2 inch and use it on a 1/8th jighead with a size 1 hook and cast it out and slowly wind it back towards you, the fish hit it with small taps or just get hooked first time.
good luck

Just went to Kmart. They have these $5 jig heads(6 a pack) :a_goodjob: , and their plastics are about $11 a pack. Just bought some of the cheap jig heads, my only complaint is that the hooks are quite long and I don’t really like that with 2inch grubs but overall they seem fine.Angus1722 wrote:Thanks for your reply dazz999.
